The 65 year-old man, who had pleaded guilty at the beginning of the month of August, will not have a criminal record. Judge Richard Grenier of the superior Court was made at the suggestion of the defence and gave its decision on the bench, Wednesday morning, at the palace of justice of Quebec.

Mr. Murray has acknowledged the facts from the outset the police at the time of his arrest. It had been testified in the same sense during its passage to the Charbonneau Commission. The charges of fraud, conspiracy and breach of trust against them had been withdrawn by the Crown upon the plea of guilt of the accused.

Anxious not to achieve its funding objectives in the county of Charlevoix, Ernest Murray had approached the engineer Martin Lapointe in Rock. In an email exchange, the political attaché had suggested the three names of potential donors that are likely to circumvent the law. No crime has yet been committed, and the engineer did not respond to this exchange.

During sentencing arguments Wednesday, Mr. Murray has confessed his gesture again, saying he acted with “pride”, in order to achieve its funding goal. His lawyer asked for a conditional discharge at the judge with a probation of six months, to allow him to continue to travel, particularly in Tibet, where it has been planned for a few years, a humanitarian trip with her granddaughter.
