Anniversary of the bombing of Quebec: many gatherings in tribute to the victims

    MONTREAL – many Of the gatherings will be held, Monday, in various districts of Montreal in memory of the victims of the bombing at the mosque of Quebec, which occurred a year ago, on January 29, 2017. A commemoration ceremony will be held in the lobby of the city hall, from 11: 30 to 13 h.

    The town hall will remain open until 16 h to allow all those who wish to, and who will not be able to travel to Quebec city, to come and collect and submit messages of support to the families of the victims and the wounded.

    The mayor, Valerie Plant will take part in the ceremony before visiting the capital of quebec to continue the tributes. She will be starting at 18 h, in the commemoration which will be held in the parking lot of the church of Notre-Dame-de-Foy, a few steps from the scene of the incident. It will be at the side of the mayor of Québec, Régis Labeaume, the premier of Quebec, Philippe Couillard, as well as the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

    In Montreal, other gatherings will be organized throughout the day in several neighbourhoods to denounce islamophobia. At 17 h, the first gatherings will start in front of the Verdun metro station and in front of the Mont-Royal metro station, at 17: 30 another meeting will take place in front of the Jean-Talon metro station.

    Recall that on 29 January 2017, a man broke into the Great Mosque of Québec, and a fire on the faithful gathered for prayer. He killed six people and injured eight others.
