GATINEAU | The producer of cannabis in Gatineau, Hydropothecary, announced Tuesday that it has doubled the land area that it has in order to prepare for the legalization of the next year.
The company has completed the acquisition of 78 acres of land, adjacent to the 65 acres that it already owns near the Ottawa river. It will build a new greenhouse of 1 million square feet, which will increase its production capacity to 108 000 kg of dried cannabis per year.
The new facilities will be fully operational by the end of 2018. Currently, Hydropothecary cannabis product for medical use.
The project is valued at $ 80 million and will create 100 jobs when it is completed. The expansion will Hydropothecary one of the major producers of cannabis in Canada, said in a press release.
