    “I have no comment to make on it”, launched by the prime minister of Canada on Wednesday during a press conference in Quebec city.

    The criminal charge was dropped two weeks after she had been reported.

    According to Court filings are available online and reported by the news website iPolitics, Ms. Payette has been charged with having committed an assault “causing after-effects” November 24, 2011 in Maryland, where she once lived with her ex-husband, William Flynn. This crime is punishable with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a$ 2500 fine.

    The prime minister did not want to reveal if he knew the situation of Ms. Payette. He stated, however, that before “any appointment” to a government “fact analysis, research deep into the past of a person.” He gave his support to Mrs. Payette. “I know she will be a governor-general extraordinary, Canadians are proud to have to represent them”, he said.

    The day before, Ms. Payette was defended. “For family reasons and personal, I will not comment on these unfounded accusations, which I was immediately and completely released, as it was several years. I hope that people will respect my privacy”, she said in a written statement. The impact has been convicted of no crime, has no criminal record and can travel without constraints.
