The intervention of the ministry of Family force closure of five centers, and leaves many parents unaware.

“It has had an impact on my portfolio. He had to hire a babysitter at home, ” says Anne-Marie Morin after the service that his three children attended after school has closed its doors at the beginning of the month.

In a private residence, located at two steps of the primary school of Notre-Dame-des-Prairies, Julie Bertrand received a thirty children from 5 to 12 years. Ms. Bertrand did not live in the house in question, which had been purchased only for day care services.

“I had an employee with me. I was therefore in line with the standards of the ministry of Education, which requires a ratio of one educator for every 20 children in a daycare school. “

However, the kind of establishment that led Julie Bertrand is governed by the ministry of the Family and must meet the same standards as daycares, an educator for six children.

“The department is completely disconnected. Me, what I offered, it was a dinner service and homework assistance. It has nothing to do with a day care centre for children 0 to 5 years. This is not at all the same needs, ” she says.

    The minister challenged

Thursday morning, dozens of parents protested in front of the school to request that the regulation be adjusted.

“By then, we want a moratorium for at least allow the children to finish the school year “, to implore Andrée-Anne Thuot, a mother of four children.

Never a parent complained of the services rendered by the five guardians referred by the department. Rather, it is a complaint from a citizen for the lack of parking that has done everything to derail.

“We never hid. We pay our taxes. The fire department we regularly checked. It was in response to a request, and it was a good deal of the City and the school, who recommended our services, ” insists Julie Bertrand.

It must be said that the service of the custody of the school is already full. The registration of one hundred children additional many people concerned, but the minister of the Family, Luc Fortin, wants to be reassuring.

“I have spoken to my colleague, the minister of Education [Sebastien Proulx] today [Thursday] and I can assure that there will be a place for each child. “
