    MONTREAL | The two main candidates for mayor of Montréal, Denis Coderre, and Valerie Plant, are being skinned on a number of topics during a debate in English held in the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grace.

    Construction, pitbull, transport, Formula E; the points of contention were many between the two candidates during the debate presented on CTV News.

    From the outset, the outgoing mayor has defended his record in the field of road construction, arguing that the multiplication of the number of jobs is a situation of “difficult in the short term to major long-term benefits”.

    His rival responded by saying that Montrealers may be willing to make sacrifices, but that the work should be less organized, less harm to the merchants.

    On the plan of the transit, the leader of projet Montréal has put forward its project of creating a pink line in the subway traversing the city diagonally between Lachine and Montréal-Nord. On his side,

    Mr. Coderre has suggested that the arrival of the new Azur cars, in the subway and electrical system metropolitan will enhance the already greatly the public transport in the metropolis.

    The outgoing mayor also defended his decision to ban pit bull type dogs. “We don’t hate dogs. We say that the safety of the public comes before everything”, he shouted while Mrs. Plant, criticizing his management of the case.

    Asked by Valerie Plant, the outgoing mayor has refused to specify what he would do if he ever is defeated at the elections, on 5 November. “I’m going to be the mayor,” he said before adding that he is not a candidate to become leader of the opposition.

    It was the second and last debate between the candidates for mayor of Montreal, after the one organized in france by the Chamber of commerce of metropolitan Montreal last week .
