SAINT-BARNABÉ-SUD – An accident involving three vehicles and horses occurred in Saint-Barnabé-Sud, Montérégie, Wednesday morning.

The first accident happened around 6: 40 on the rang Saint-Amable, stressed the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). A truck with a trailer had stopped on the edge of route 235, when a truck carrying horses was hooked. The driver then lost control of his truck, which was found in the field.

A team of veterinarians was called to the scene, said Ingrid Asselin, a spokesperson for the SQ. Five horses died on impact or had to be euthanized because of their injuries, reported authorities.

Furthermore, shortly after the first accident, a bus has also hooked the truck to a stop. We still don’t know exactly why the truck was parked at this location, on the edge of the roadway, but the driver could soon receive a statement of offence for his carelessness.

In addition to the beasts who perished, no one has been seriously injured during the incident.
