LONDON | constellations were created and named after celebrities of sport, of literature or of science to encourage the children to observe the stars, has announced a show science for the young.

Children can have fun to find in the night sky, the glasses of Harry Potter, the tennis racket of Serena Williams or the legend jamaican sprint Usain Bolt doing his famous sign of the flash.

In total, eight constellations have been created “in order to encourage more young people to take an interest in the universe,” announced The Big Bang Fair, an exhibition dedicated to the science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and is intended for young, who has worked on this project with the astronomical society of the University of Birmingham.

“Many of the 88 constellations existing officially recognized by the international astronomical Union are based on the zodiac and figures from Greek and roman mythology, but a new study has shown that this did not always encourage children to look at the stars “, has explained The Big Bang Fair, in a press release.

In fact, 72% of 7-19 year-olds surveyed said they had never looked at the night sky to find the constellation, and 29% said that they would not be able to recognize a single constellation by its name, according to this study commissioned by The Big Bang Fair and conducted with a thousand young.

“We really hope that these new creations will help people of all ages to develop an interest in astronomy and space “, said Emma Willett, who led the research team from the university of Birmingham.
