SAINT-RAYMOND | glider crashed in the late after-noon, Saturday, on the avenue de la Colline in Saint-Raymond, Quebec region.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the driver, a man in his fifties, was alone on board when his aircraft crashed to the ground at around 16: 30.

He was rushed to a hospital, his condition being considered critical according to the police, who said that there are fears for his life.

Christine Coulombe, spokesperson for the SQ, said that it is not known, at this stage, if the driver experienced a malaise, if the accident is due to a false manoeuvre or if it is a technical problem with the device.

Electrical wires, however, would have been affected by the glider, so that Hydro-Québec has sent a team on-site.

The Office of the transportation safety board of Canada will be notified of the accident.
