The future of the automobile is electric. It, the great majority of the leaders of the automotive industry seems to be certain.
And yet, just go take a walk outside to realize that electric cars are still quite rare on our roads. Despite millions of dollars in subsidies granted by the provincial government, the Province is still far from its goal of seeing 100 000 electric vehicles (EVS) on the roads of Quebec by 2020.
Except that there is hope.

The supply of EVS continues to improve, whether in models with fully electric or plug-in hybrid.
At the international auto Show of Montreal, this year, nearly 30 hybrid models and different electric members will walk the floor of the congress Palace.
In the power pure and tough models like the Volkswagen e-Golf, the Hyundai Ioniq EV or the new Nissan Leaf manage to offer an autonomy of 200 kilometres or more while maintaining a starting price of around 35 000 $. We begin to chat.
Of course, it may not match the needs of 100 % of the population. The cooldown is still long, and the distance traveled has not yet reached that of a gasoline vehicle.
Except that in comparing the situation five years ago to that of today, one sees that there is light at the end of the tunnel. And if the trend continues, looks like Bernard, the automotive industry may be unrecognizable in a few years.
Basically, two factors are likely to lift the sales of EVS in the coming years : falling prices and a range to the upside. Combine these two elements, and automakers will have to sell their EVS like hotcakes.
Remains to be seen if all this will be done by 2020…
