Scientists from mit have developed a device that can produce electricity from the atmosphere, reports Rus.Media.

The device works on the basis of daily fluctuations in air temperature. Inside the device is a metal foam copper and Nickel, covered with a layer of graphene, and is filled with a special wax. As a result, one side generates heat and the other absorbs, allowing it thus to generate electricity.

The researchers argue that similar thermal resonator has a higher thermal inertia of the known.

If the difference of day and night temperature to 10 degrees Celsius, the device produces 1.3 milliwatts of energy and 350 millivolts of potential. This is sufficient to ensure operation of simple sensors and communications.

In the future, the researchers plan to increase the power of the device.
