Extensive operation of patching of potholes in progress

    The snow removal operation was not completed, in Montreal, that already the employees of the municipality took to the streets to assault to patch up the potholes, which are already very abundant in the streets of the metropolis.

    The alternating episodes of freezing and thaw offers perfect conditions for the formation of holes in the floor. The City has therefore decided to take advantage of the good weather to the end of the week in order to strengthen its operation of clogging.

    All in all, 3.5 million dollars have been injected into this major repair, involving 14 vehicles in the City of Montreal, equipped with state of the art technologies.

    “First, it removes all what there is in the hole. After that, we filled it with asphalt, and it gives a kick to equalize and to ensure that the entire hole is filled. After, you put pressure on it to compress everything, so that it is resistant,” explained a employee, who maneuver one of these machines.

    The goal is ambitious: it is expected that the blue collar workers assigned to the it try seal off around 2000 potholes per day. In the past year, some 300 000 of them have been repaired.

    “The blitz was launched on Thursday and it will continue as long as you have good conditions. It could go up in the month of may, ” said the spokesman of the City of Montreal, Philippe Sabourin.

    These measures, however, remain temporary, the clogging of the holes being effective for approximately 30 days.
