CHÂTEAUGUAY | The Motel Rustik, boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Chateauguay, has been the prey of the flames in the late morning on Sunday.
A fire in one of the rooms of the ground floor, quickly mastered, has caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage, which will prevent the motel to resume its activities in the immediate future.
The establishment had to be evacuated, and few people bothered by the smoke had to be transported to the hospital. According to local media, The Soleil de Châteauguay, people were stuck on a balcony at the back and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The fire need a fourth alarm, the fire safety Department of Châteauguay, which has also enlisted the help of three surrounding towns. Forty firefighters in total have been dispatched to the scene.
