A fire broke out in a building in the rue Saint-Denis, in the borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal, in Montreal, early on Thursday morning.
The fire was reported about 5: 30 a.m. on the second floor of a commercial building, at the intersection of rue Saint-Denis and Rachel.
Residents of homes nearby were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
No one was injured.
Forty firefighters were needed to control the blaze around 7: 20.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
