For over 10 years: an electrician epileptic tries to make himself unfit to work

    THREE RIVERS – It’s been over 10 years that He Sylvain Ruel suffers from epilepsy. This electrician training attempts since to be recognized as being unfit for work.

    “I was an electrician and with my illness I could not continue to work. I was too dangerous for the others and for me”, he narrated.

    His requests for more severe employment restrictions with the department of Employment and social solidarity have always been denied.

    “After six or twelve months, I was told that I was able to return to work. I went back and I ressortais in an ambulance,” added the man from Trois-Rivières.

    In an application filled out by a neurologist, we can read that Sylvain Ruel suffers from epilepsy poorly controlled and that he can’t go on a construction site or going to a place that may be hazardous in case of loss of consciousness.

    Alarmed by her distress, a childhood friend of Mr. Ruel has decided to support it in its efforts.

    “This man has worked all his life honestly, he has nothing to apologize for. He has been an electrician for Hydro-Québec, for the FIPOE, and it has been squarely dropped and put in a system where it is left in the corner,” sorry Tony Roy, his childhood friend.

    In the meantime, Sylvain Ruel lives only on social assistance.

    “$500 per month, you’re not going far with it, especially when you were a electrician pis that you won $ 2000 per pays,” said Mr. Ruel.

    At the end of the resource, the latter launched a last appeal for help. He wanted a lawyer to take his case in hand.
