    THETFORD MINES – The police officers of the Sûreté du Québec seized over 25 000 contraband cigarettes during several raids that led to the arrest of four people involved in a network of tobacco smuggling, to Thetford Mines.

    During the searches, which took place on January 25 in a residence, and in three vehicles, the police officers of the investigation Division on the smuggling of the SQ have seized more than 130 cartridges of 200 contraband cigarettes, over $ 5,000 in cash and two vehicles used in the transportation of tobacco.

    Four people, aged 55 and 60 years of age and suspected of being involved in a network of tobacco smuggling have been arrested. They could face charges under the Act relating to the tobacco tax.
