Students in education will look like Monday morning in Montreal, in front of the office of the minister of higher education, Hélène David, to claim the financial compensation for internships.

The teachers-in-training will meet, at 10 a.m., in front of the building located on Fullum street.

They indicated that they would be “disguised as doctors” and bear a banner with the inscription “we need to be doctors to help the budget meet our needs?”, one can read in a press release from the Campaign of claims and actions inter-university for education students in training (CHALK).

Recall that students in education are calling for a financial compensation weekly 576 $ for three months, during their last internship.

“It is time for the government to act to promote the profession, and it involves, among other things a scholarship to students who live in precarious financial situation,” said Antoine Side, the spokesman of the CHALK, in February last.

According to the CHALK, a scholarship from lows of $ 576 per week, paid by the financial Assistance for education, would be the way to fight against this financial insecurity of teachers-in-training. Research conducted by the student Union in Quebec, indicate the measure would cost $ 20.3 million per year to the government, “that is, less than 0.1% of the budget in education in Quebec”.
