Nearly 40% of Russians believe that the global warming is an invention, and a subject of speculation, according to a recent study published Monday by the institute of public poll VTsIOM.

For 39% of the respondents, which is 5 points higher than it was ten years ago, “climate change is a problem invented and a matter of speculation for those who want to play on the natural fear of humanity in the face of natural disasters”.

More than half of Russians (51%) still consider that the warming is “a serious problem that requires an immediate solution”, according to the survey conducted in mid-July with 1200 people.

A majority of Russians (55%) also believe that the phenomenon has a “rather negative” about their country, while more than one in four (27%) sees it as “a positive effect” for Russia.

Russian president Vladimir Putin has assured at the beginning of July that Russia will respect the Paris Agreement on climate, to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, as reported by his american counterpart, Donald Trump.

The planet broke in 2016 its 3rd annual record consecutive heat with a higher temperature of about 1.1°C with the average of the pre-industrial era, according to the world meteorological Organization (WMO).

In some regions of Russia, the temperature was in excess of 6 to 7°C at the normal in 2016.
