Rumors that GMC would be preparing a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler circulating for the past few years. Obviously, we will hear more anytime soon if we rely on this which has been published by Automotive News.
Virtually alone in its class, the Wrangler has obvious qualities. Its image is strong and it is popular. On the side of the GMC, it was assessed that it would not be cost effective to develop a completely new model that concurrencerait the icon of the brand
Jeep.
We imagined a kind of Jimmy modern. It explains this decision by stating that there is no platform currently with General Motors that could be used for this new vehicle. That we understand each other well, it was not a question of constructing an SUV to be part of the platform of a car. There was a true body-on-chassis.
This announcement by the spokesperson of GMC and Buick, Duncan Aldred, surprise greatly, as it occurs at a time when we’re all looking forward to the official unveiling of the new Ford Bronco. The latter will tackle the market share of the
Jeep Wangler, it goes without saying.
