The man who died on Saturday by a fall of five storeys, while he was preparing an activity décalade was an enthusiast of the sport that he practiced for two years.

“It was really a passionate man, a lover of life, who is gone much too soon,” said his sister, Rebecca Fog.

Dozens of people gathered Sunday at the same place the terrible accident at the corner of Clark and Sainte-Catherine to make a tribute to Joseph Fog, 33 years old.

Friends and colleagues came to comfort the members of the bereaved family and lay flowers under the fine rain that started in the late evening.

“It is really incredible that so much people are moved to pay tribute to Joseph, I thank them from the bottom of my heart,” responded Rebecca Fog.

    Very careful

Mr. Fog would have been in the process of warm-up for the charity challenge, Jump for freedom, for the benefit of Amnesty international to the House of sustainable development when he made a fatal fall on Saturday. The activity of décalade which is to go down a wall to rappel face down on the floor and that should serve to raise funds has been cancelled.

“We are in shock since we heard the news. He was someone extremely careful, ” explained Ms. Fog. The young man would never be taken down from the wall, knowing that he was running a risk, she believes.

    Internal investigation

Joseph Fog had been in the sport for over two years and was a volunteer for the company Décalade.com. He had also recently discovered a passion for photography and he liked to practise in height.

The company said Saturday that it was conducting an investigation in the internet to determine if it was a technical or human error that had caused the accident.

The standards Commission, equity, health and safety in the workplace (CNESST) investigation officially also to shed light on the circumstances of this drama.

It would be likely the first accident to occur in Quebec in the practice of this discipline.
