A man of 39 years who has been close to death several times since he has been diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006 to live his dream of walking on the mount Everest.
Diagnosed with melanoma, a form of skin cancer, very aggressive, Montreal-based Sylvain Poissant has seven relapses, and the doctors believed that he was going to die several times.

Source of motivation

The joint Sylvain Poissant since February of 2016, Martine Théorêt, confessed that the determination that showed her lover is a great source of motivation for those around her.
“When I met Scott at a conference in Sherbrooke, my life has made a turn to 360 degrees. His way of living in the present moment and do not torment them with tomorrow is remarkable. We forget to appreciate what we have, but not him, ” she narrated.
He amassed hundreds of thousands of dollars
For the past eight years, Sylvain Poissant has collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in the fight against cancer in addition to raising awareness of the hundreds of teenagers against the dangers of exposure to the sun.
Lifeguard and boating throughout his teenage years, he is convinced that his nonchalance in the face of the exposure of UV rays from the sun has been the trigger of her cancer.
Ten years after the end of his career as a lifeguard, a biopsy of a mole on his shoulder revealed the presence of a melanoma, a skin cancer at an advanced stage and incurable.

Volunteer
Since 2009, Sylvain Poissant has taken the decision to engage in the community of the canadian cancer Society as a volunteer.
Becoming more motivated by the project, he eventually quit her job as technical coordinator at Sports Québec in 2012 to give full time to the cause.
It has even been named an ambassador and spokesperson for the awareness program about the importance of protecting oneself from the sun’s rays with young people in schools.
He has amassed hundreds of thousands of dollars for the non-profit organization through various fundraising campaigns.
Model
According to the spokesperson of the canadian cancer Society Andre Beaulieu, M. Poissant remains one of the cornerstones of the organization since five years.
“Sylvain is dedicated 100% to the Company. He has organized many events and participated in so many conferences. It is a model of hope for all the teenagers in the schools who believe that sunscreen is not used for nothing, ” said André Beaulieu.
