    MONTREAL – For a second consecutive year, Moisson Montréal is launching its campaign “Hungry for a holiday”, until 20 August, aimed to help young Montrealers who do not have enough to eat during the summer.

    According to the latest report prepared by the agency, requests for food assistance in the Greater Montreal area have increased. A situation that would be “more of concern” during the months of July and August, the period when children no longer have access to meals provided by their school.

    Moisson Montréal is estimated at 39 400 the number of young Montrealers between the ages of 3 to 17 years of age who are dependent on food aid to feed themselves.

    To help these young people and their families, the campaign “Hungry for a holiday” aims to raise $ 50,000 in one month. The opportunity also to raise awareness among the general public in relation to this issue that affects many families in montreal.

    “This year, Moisson Montreal, more than 900 youth participating in day camps, enjoy meals over the noon hour, which represents nearly 39 000 meals per month,” says Richard D. Daneau, director general of Moisson Montréal.
