“Hurricane Andrew was so powerful. He had turned at the last minute towards the south, 30 miles south of here and, despite everything, there had been damage,” said Mr. Clavet, who remained on-site to take care of the many guests of the motel in which he is the owner for 27 years.
“I’ve evacuated my wife, my children and my brother,” he said.
In 1992, the man remembers to have seen the sidewalks, slips, signs have fallen and fallen trees.
“Fortunately for us, Irma was deflected to the west coast. But as you can see, it still is catastrophic here. When it was a hurricane of category 5, I had the bitch”, he confessed.
Richard Clavet hope that the worst is past and that the cleaning may begin as soon as tomorrow [Monday]. The Florida resident also hope that the power returns quickly.
“It’s going to go well and we will be ready for tourists this winter,” he concluded.
