The member of parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, Newfoundland-and-Labrador, said she was resigning from his duties as minister and that she will do the same later this year for his post of mp.

Last April, the minister Foote had indicated that she was leaving his post “until further notice” for reasons of “personal and family”, without giving further explanations. Since then, the minister of natural Resources, Jim Carr, was in charge of the department.

In an interview with the local newspaper The Soutern Gazette at the end of July, the minister Foote had indicated that his family has gone through a difficult period in recent times due to the illness of one of the members of the family.

“As a parent, you can be sick and get through it, but when it is your child that is, it is much more difficult,” said the minister, adding that his daughter was sick. Ms. Foote stated feel the need to be with her. “I couldn’t get my work before my family,” she declared.
