Kia intends to make its place in the compact sedan class with the new High in 2019.

Longer, wider and higher than the Strong current, this new version of 2019 to adopt a look that is reminiscent of that of the powerful Stinger, unveiled a year ago almost to the day. As was the case for the Stinger, the design of this new High was overseen by Peter Schreyer, Kia went flying to Audi, there are already a few years.

Kia promises an integration of technologies significantly improved, especially in offering of series a touch screen of 8 inches compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

By using more high-strength steel, the Korean manufacturer has also been able to stiffen the chassis of the new High compared to the model of 2018.

On the mechanical side, the continued Strong appeal of a four-cylinder engine of 2.0 liters. Its specifications have not yet been formalized, but Kia assures that the power of 147 horsepower and torque of 132 pounds-foot of the model 2018 is expected to remain substantially the same.

Currently, Kia also offers a version with a GDI engine developing 164 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. However, no word has been said on a potential return of this mechanic in 2019…

Only a four-door version was presented to the public. The variants hatchback and two-door that are part of the alignment of the Strong for 2018 are not expected to be back with this new generation. At least not for the moment.

Kia Forte 2019

A six-speed manual transmission will remain available and will equip the basic model. For the variant automatic, however, Kia has decided to drop the transmission to six reports of Strong 2018, to be replaced by a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

By opting for such a box, Kia believes it can improve the fuel consumption of the High for 2019. The official data, however, have not yet been announced.

The Kia Forte 2019 will arrive at dealers in a few months. Its price has not been disclosed, but Kia promises to remain competitive. For 2018, the Forte is available from 17 of$350.
