Lewis Hamilton won the Italian Grand Prix, completing the race started in pole position, almost without ever being challenged, while the Quebec Lance Stroll has concluded the race in seventh place.

Hamilton finished nearly five seconds ahead of his teammate Mercedes Valtteri Bottas, while Sebastian Vettel brought his Ferrari in third place, 30 seconds behind the winner.

Youngest driver in history to start from the first row in the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Stroll concluded the test in about one minute, 14 seconds (1 h 14,156) of Hamilton.

“I am very excited for this race and I think it is a good result. I really had a lot of fun, said Stroll. It is a shame that at the start I lost a place to the favor of[Esteban] Ake, while Hamitlon has had a bad start and I had to defend myself. I was then third, but the two Ferraris and the Mercedes of Bottas passed me. “

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) — started 16th due to a penalty —, Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) and Esteban Ake (Force India) also out ahead of the driver Williams.

“In the end, it is a race that was very positive. In the seventh place, this is what we expected. “

This victory of the British allowed him to double Vettel in the drivers ‘ standings. Hamilton now has 238 points, three more than Vettel with seven races to go.

Vettel has led the standings throughout the season, but Ferrari has tested all sorts of trouble in the wet conditions of Saturday’s qualifying, and the Scuderia has struggled to follow the pace set by Mercedes on the circuit of Monza, on Sunday, the route is best suited to the power of German cars.

After getting out of his car, Hamilton was first hailed Bottas, before jumping into the arms of his team members. He was greeted by a mixture of applause and boos upon his arrival at the podium, several supporters of Ferrari having invaded the area.

“You know what ? I love it, here, in Italy, and I love the passion of the supporters of Ferrari, said Hamilton on the podium. We see this energy and nowhere else, except perhaps at Silverstone. “

This is a 59th career win for the British and a second in a row.

After a brilliant start to the season, Vettel has now won only one of last seven races.

Supporters of the Scuderia wanted better results while the weekend also marked the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the brand.

“The power of Mercedes is certainly better than that of Ferrari, noted Hamilton. Then it worked well this weekend. “

Hamilton has managed a very clean and Bottas only took four rounds to join him on the head, so that the Mercedes has quickly found herself in front of all the other cars. Räikkönen has struggled with Bottas early in the race, but he was forced off track and had to avoid the barriers to be able to continue his race.

“The back is damaged “, he warned the paddocks by radio. The technicians at Ferrari, however, have indicated to the Finns that they saw nothing.

During this time, Vettel has slipped to Ake in the main right line to take third place, but it also has problems with the back of his car and has continued to lose ground on the Mercedes.

The only hitch of Hamilton in this race perfect occurred mid-term, so that he slipped in the gravel. Otherwise, Bottas and he earned a half-second per lap on the Ferraris.

The next step will take place in two weeks, in Singapore.
