If robots threatened to resell our confidential data to third parties, Apple warns us that just like on the iPhone and iPad, HomePod will keep our info safe!

HomePod makes war on domestic robots who want to resell our information. Because by inviting ourselves in our houses, the connected domestic robots could quite spy on us! Maybe you do not know? IRobot, the Roomba robot cleaner wants to resell our personal information to large high-tech firms for targeted marketing. So imagine your vacuum cleaner mapping and reselling the shots of your shack to third parties … scary, eh? Fortunately, Apple reassures us by certifying that its HomePod, which was kindly parodied on Twitter after its launch, will never distribute our information. Ah! Phew … Good news.

Anxiety had risen a notch after the announcement and the controversy that followed the Roomba affair. But the answer from the Cupertino firm is clear: “No information is sent to Apple’s servers until the HomePod recognizes the key phrase” Dis Siri. “And all the information that would go through Encrypted and transferred via an anonymised Siri identifier […] For internal mapping, all analysis is done locally, no data is shared with Apple. ” So here we are reassured. And if not, did you know? HomePod, Google Home and Amazon Echo will have a new competitor: Samsung! And you, are not you afraid that your vacuum cleaner will spy on you?
