LONGUEUIL – The mayor outbound of Longueuil, Caroline St-Hilaire, has decided to offer its support to the candidate at the town hall, Sylvie Parent.
Ms. St. Hilaire, which leaves the active politics after two terms as mayor, says Ms. Parent, with whom she founded her party, has all the skills to continue the work initiated and lead projects to completion.
“I would have preferred, I think, stay away from the election campaign, but everyone asks me who I support and I am proud to announce that I am supportive of Sylvie Parent,” said Ms. St-Hilaire. She has been at my side for eight years. She has done a lot for eight years.”
According to the Caroline St-Hilaire, Sylvie Parent is the “only candidate who can boast of having been at the heart of decision-making. It will continue to ensure that Longueuil shines on the chess board metropolitan. It is she who has set the public finances so that we had big financial issues to our arrival, eight years ago. We should remember that it is she who has also been chosen by the members of my party”.
In regards to the nomination to the city council of Josée Latendresse, who has slammed the door of the training policy of Caroline St-Hilaire last April, the mayor outbound believes that it is his choice which should not, however, come at the expense of the interests of the citizens of Longueuil.
“I understand that we can have personal ambitions, but not at the expense of collective interests. Josée Latendresse has refused the verdict of my party, but she can’t deny what we did for eight years,” added Ms. St-Hilaire.
Recall that Sadia Groguhé, ex-member of parliament for the NDP, is also in the race for mayor of Longueuil.
