The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has suspended until further order by the deployment of a new system of communication RÉSEAU because of failures in its operation.

To this day, up to 54 units, including Bécancour, have been or still are affected by breaks in the transmission in some form or another. “The main issues that have been encountered as a result of the migration of the RÉSEAU are the loss of partial communication and also interference”, explained the lieutenant Martine Asselin, a spokesperson for the SQ.

To deal with the situation in the affected positions, the patrols of the day are a duo, just as the evening and night. We want to avoid that an agent is left alone in distress and unable to issue with his radio.

The SQ ensures that, despite everything, the safety of the public is ensured in the relevant territories.

For the region of Bécancour, Centre de services partagés du Québec, responsible for the implementation of the system, has indicated that seven sources of electromagnetic interference have been identified. “We are working hard to solve the problem as soon as possible, assured the spokesperson Pierre Turgeon. In some units, they went so far as to disconnect the new system of auto-patrols and reinstall the old one.”
