“The vagaries of the weather of the last days, we are obliged, in order to ensure the safety of citizens and the mobility on the urban network, to establish a fourth operation of the loading of the snow on the territory of the City of Montreal,” said mayor Valerie Plant, in a news release issued Saturday.

Montrealers will still need to be patient before you see the streets completely cleared of snow. “We received 36 inches between Friday night and Saturday night, so we will need a minimum of five days. We are going to move forward at the rate of 15 % per day, which means 1500 miles in a day,” said Philippe Sabourin, a spokesperson for the City of Montreal, on Sunday morning in an interview with LCN.

During the first 36 hours, the priority will be given to the major arteries of the city and the transport links that serve schools, hospitals, metro stations and bus routes.

Subsequently, it will be the turn of the residential streets. “The last residential street could be charged Friday evening or next Saturday,” said Philippe Sabourin.

Montrealers are invited to use the public transport for their return to work. In fact, the rush hour will be challenging since the snow on the main streets has not been loaded.
