Transport Canada has initiated a recall of 290 200 vans in the Ram of the years 2009 to 2017.

    The Ram 1500 (2009 to 2017), 2500 (2010 to 2017), 3500 (2010 to 2017), 4500 (2011 to 2017) and 5500 (2011 to 2017) are recalled for a problem connected to the powertrain.

“On some vehicles with a shift lever on the steering column, the lock transmission-brake (BTSI) may stop working. This could allow the shift lever to be placed in a position other than PARK (P) without depressing the brake pedal or service, without the key in the ignition, which could cause the vehicle starts moving suddenly, which would increase the risk of an accident injuring someone or damaging material goods,” one can read on the Transport Canada web site.

To know if your vehicle is part of the units covered by the recall, you can contact your local dealer or call toll-free at 1 800 387-9983.
