Nadal and Federer win in double Cup Wash

The Spanish Rafael Nadal and Switzerland’s Roger Federer were together in tandem for the first time.

Prague — The Spanish Rafael Nadal and Switzerland’s Roger Federer joined forces and won the match with double presented during the second day of the Cup Wash tennis on Saturday.

 

Together in tandem for the first time, Nadal and Federer defeated the American Sam Querrey and Jack Sock 6-4, 1-6, 10-5.

 

“It was amazing ! “exclaimed as Nadal.

 

This competition, first between groups of tennis players from Europe and the rest of the world, is played at the Arena O2 in Prague, on an unusual short-black color.

 

The Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the Australian Nick Kyrgios, and the Americans John Isner and Frances Tiafoe complete World Team while the German Alexander Zverev, the Croatian Marin Cilic, the Austrian Dominic Thiem and the Czech Tomas Berdych are the other representatives from Team Europe.

 

Team Europe has won the first two games in a single day. Federer was first defeated Querrey 6-4, 6-2 and Nadal has followed up with a victory in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 in the face of Sock.

 

Kyrgios has however allowed Team World to get his only two points of the day when it took the measure of Berdych 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-6.

 

With a lead of 9-3 after the first two days of competition, Team Europe needed to win two of the four matches in programme on Sunday to ensure that they put the hand on the first cup to Wash.
