The montréal region hosts currently 2943 asylum seekers accommodation centre, according to the latest figures from the provincial department of Immigration.
Last Friday, they were about 2500 after a slight decrease. This decline was probably linked to the establishment of a first camp in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle.
Now, the needs are to depart upward. Last Sunday, 265 new asylum seekers were accommodated, while 107 have left the temporary accommodation specified by the ministry.
To cope with the demand, the CIUSSS of the Center-West-of-the Ile-de-Montréal opened in the end of the week, a new centre of 300 seats in Boucherville and is seeking other appropriate venues.
