SAINT-ROCH-DE-L’ACHIGAN – Highway 25 will reopen eventually as the first week of August in the South direction, announced Wednesday the ministry of Transport.

Closed since the 7 April due to a huge hole that is formed in the edge of pavement, the highway that connects Montreal to the Lanaudière region may not reopen on July 24 as planned due to technical difficulties.

“We ask the 4000 block of styrofoam to form a backfill, lightweight under the road because the clay soil is friable. But the laying of blocks can not be done that day which makes us lose time because we had planned to work day and night,” said the director-general of the MTQ for the region, Claude Thibault.

    More details to come.
