Obesity continues to gain ground in Quebec. According to projections of the national Institute of public Health, 22% of men and 18% of women will suffer from obesity by 2030.
It is, therefore, to say that 348 000 Quebecers will be obese in ten years.
For dr. Jean-Pierre Després of the heart Institute of Quebec, the situation is alarming.
“Never in the history of Quebec, our children were not in as bad physical condition. It was essentially half of Quebecers who do not eat properly”, he explains.
If nothing changes, experts predict also an increase of cases of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
