“It is a safe fire that is designed to protect documents from a fire. It resists to various degrees of heat, but is not tested against the flight,” says Mario Girard.

The director of operations for the security Group MGM, which specializes in the manufacture of safe, has been “a flea in the ear” after you have read the news about the flight, including Philippe Beshro would have been the target. The businessman alleged that he was stealing for approximately$ 500,000 of jewelry and objects of collection, including its safe attached to the concrete.

“That the bolt remained intact and the powder on the ground. It is the drywall, inside the structure of the trunk, which crumbled after it was damaged”, raised by Mr. Girard. The composition of the outer wall of this type of safe would consist of a thin “sheet steel” and the inside is plasterboard, according to Mr. Girard, making them “lighter and easier to steal”.

“A safe against theft is made up of thick steel plates or thick steel casing filled with concrete to high or very high resistance. It takes torches and power tools to get to the end. In the vast majority of flights residential, people give up because it is complex and they do not have the right tools,” explains t-it.

“For a safe fire, you don’t need special tools. They were able to break down the door, succeeding in getting out of the trunk of the bolt a little bit like a cardboard rips when you pull on a pencil inserted in it. They have also been able to lift it with a crowbar, and the trunk gave way under the pressure,” adds the expert, who argues that a wide range of videos posted on the Internet shows the “ease” with which one can open a safe against the fire. “Some hotel safes were opened with a potato.”

To this effect, Mr. Girard regrets that people carry these safes is less expensive, to put property away, thinking, wrongly, that they will stand up to the thieves. “People think they can sleep with peace of mind. Someone who uses this type of safe to protect documents from fire, it should be, but not for value objects. It is important to demystify this, that people are well informed and are turning to professionals”, he recalls.

There is no doubt for the director general that the thieves who have targeted the condo of Mr. Beshro knew what type of safe they attacked. “It is too fishy and with the cabinet doors. Or he had a good informant,” says Mr. Girard argues that the safe against fire may weigh less than 150 pounds. “It can get out in the arms if the person is strong. The door can be removed and removes it from the weight. They were perhaps two. Or then they had a devil and covered before going out. In the middle of the day, it’s less fishy”, and emits it as a hypothesis.

Moreover, the spokesman of the police Department of the City of Quebec, David Poitras, argues that the investigation continues regarding the theft of which would have been the victim Mr. Beshro so that no new information has been disclosed.
