The Trudeau government announced on Thursday the granting of emergency humanitarian assistance of $ 10 million to palestinian refugees who “suffer from high levels of poverty, unemployment and food insecurity”.

This financial support will be directed to the palestinian refugees in the west bank and Gaza. Ottawa estimated that a million people could benefit from it.

“The palestinian refugees are facing a catastrophic humanitarian disaster”, stressed the minister of international Development and la Francophonie, and Marie-Claude Bibeau, news

“Today’s announcement concerns emergency funding new and exceptional to provide humanitarian aid and respond to the needs of the palestinian refugees in the poorest and most vulnerable in the west bank and Gaza”, she added.

The amounts will be paid to the Office of the relief and works United Nations for Palestine refugees in the Near East.

The federal government has also reiterated its support for the efforts of the Office “to ensure a culture of neutrality and resolve allegations of violation of the neutrality”.
