Ottawa: two people accused of the murder of an octogenarian

    OTTAWA – investigators from the major crime Section Ottawa have arrested two individuals on Tuesday in connection with the murder of an elder has occurred, last Saturday, in a residence of the street Parkrose in the area of Orleans.

    Paulo Desousa, 40 years old, and Danielle Leblanc, 36 years old, have been arrested and charged with a chief respective of first-degree murder, one can read in a press release issued by the Ottawa police.

    The man would be the son of the victim.

    Maria Desousa, 81 years old, was already dead when one of his relatives transported him to a hospital on February 10 last. His death was regarded as suspicious by staff who then alerted the authorities.

    According to information reported by the “Ottawa Citizen”, a police report presented in court indicated that Ms. Desousa was killed on 8 February, two days before his arrival at the hospital.

    The two accused, who appeared at the courthouse on Tuesday, will remain incarcerated until trial.

    This is the 6th homicide to occur in Ottawa since the beginning of the year.
