OTTAWA – The federal Finance minister Bill Morneau has reiterated that his government does not tax Netflix.

On Friday, the federal minister of Heritage had yet opened the door to such an option. “I hear complaints, I’ll talk to my colleague of Finance”, she declared, during a visit to Montreal.

Sunday, on the sidelines of a meeting between the ministers of Finance from across the country, the main party, however, has not hinted at such a possibility.

“We explained that it is very important for us to reduce the taxes of the middle class of our country. We explained our policy of not taxing Netflix. […] It continues to be our position. There is no change,” he said.

Carlos Leitao, minister of Finance of Quebec, said that he had the intention to raise the matter with his federal counterpart.
