SAINTE-MADELEINE | Less than 24 hours after seeing their home destroyed by a fire, the members of a family of Sainte-Madeleine, in Montérégie, have received the support of their community. Nearly $ 5,000 has been raised, in addition to clothing and toys.

It is with emotion that this family of four people, including two young children, came to receive the gifts on Monday.

“We are really happy. It makes a little balm on the heart during the Holiday season. It will never be enough grateful for it, said Alysson Morin in an interview with TVA News. As long as our children and we are healthy, that’s what is important. It will be necessary to pass over this tragedy, pull together and ensure that our children are not traumatized.”

The family was absent when the fire occurred in the night from Saturday to Sunday. Nothing could be saved of the house, but nobody was injured.

“We are pleased with the city that you chose, has added his spouse Maxime Dépeault. Dad is going to rebuild another house with his own hands. The children did not realize, and I think this is the most important. We will get through it.”

The collection of donations is not yet complete. The elect of Sainte-Madeleine always look for donations to help this family.

“People have responded to our appeal and I thank them,” said mayor André Lefebvre. This financial support will probably help in the next few days. The citizens have contributed much and I am very proud of them.”

The family has been supported by the department of disaster relief of the Red Cross.
