MONTREAL – A building that is in construction has been the prey of the flames, in the night from Thursday to Friday, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles in Montreal.
The fire was reported around 1 p.m. on the site of a duplex under construction located in the Notre-Dame street east, near 4th avenue.
The arrival of the fire brigade, the fire had spread to a second building adjacent to it. The latter may be home to a trade and a few apartments, they have all been evacuated.
No one was injured. Ignoring for the moment the extent of damage caused.
“It is difficult to determine the cause of the fire,” said Raphael Bergeron, a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The investigation has been transferred to the section of the arson of the SPVM. Investigators will be on-site to analyze the scene.
