Québec solidaire wants to take advantage of the reform of the Law on labour standards announced by the government Couillard to regulate the placement agencies which leave the workers “cheated” and ” exploited “.

“This is one of the gaping holes in our current system of labour standards,” says the male spokesperson for Québec solidaire, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

These “staff leasing agencies” are increasing and some employers use to avoid hiring staff in good and due form, ” says Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

    Hook the government

Québec solidaire, which holds its caucus présessionnel today in Quebec city, will include that the employees are hired directly by the client company after a few months of his service.

Although the government Couillard has already announced its intention to monitor placement agencies in its reform of labour standards, Québec solidaire is concerned that the proposals, which will be unveiled shortly be too shy. The party therefore intends to spur the government this spring. “For us, this will be a high priority,” said Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

Currently, employees hired through a placement agency, are the victims of a ” legal grey area “, continues the mp solidarity. “Who really is their employer ? he asks. Is this what it is their agency, staff leasing or the company in which they work ? “They” return the ball “when it comes time to decide who pays for the holiday and who is responsible in case of harassment,” says Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

    Citizen movement

The claims of Québec solidaire in the area of labour standards will also address the impact of new technologies in the field of employment, stresses Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, without specifying his intentions.

In addition to the work by the parliamentary commission, the Québec solidaire intends to mobilize its activists online and in the streets to maintain pressure on the government, in particular through its new platform-activist, named Movement.

The platform is intended as a first step to transform Québec solidaire, a political party in a citizen movement. “We’re going to see the difference this spring “, promises Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.
