The government Couillard said Friday it has reached an agreement in principle with the doctors and specialists concerning their contract of employment.
The treasury Board said that it had reached this agreement, “following intensive negotiations which began in December last”.
The agreement will be drafted over the next few weeks and the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec will then present the proposal to the vote of its members.
“As in any negotiation, the content of the agreement remains confidential until it has been ratified by the members,” said the government, by issuing a press release.
Recall that in December, Philippe Couillard had withdrawn to Gaétan Barrette the mandate to negotiate an agreement with the specialist doctors on their working conditions, preferring to entrust the task to the chief government negotiator, Maurice Charlebois, and the outgoing secretary-general, Roberto Iglesias.
