Rose-Marie Gallagher and Pierre Bouchard have seen their place of residence, take the hit full force by the storm of December 2010. Even the plumbing had been ripped off. They have decided to raise their house and stay where they are happy, on the edge of the river.
“As long as we will fight and that it won’t cost too much to fight, we will stay there. I climb up the wall of protection of a foot and a half per year, but I will not do it for years to come “, says Pierre Bouchard, a fisherman who is not seen elsewhere than on the edge of the water.
The couple is aware that he is in a risk area, which makes it vulnerable, but he wants to enjoy it for the moment.
And if something were to happen, they promise not to ask for help from anyone. They are aware of the risk.
“You live here, it is here as well, we took the opportunity. It is in a risk area, as we know, it is written everywhere. This is the best decision for us, ” added Ms. Gallagher.
