A controversial decision of the referee is coming to derail the evening of the Montréal Impact, Saturday.

A few minutes after the expulsion of defender Deian Boldor early in the second half, Bastian Schweinsteiger hit the target, and the Fire of Chicago won 1-0.

The baptism of Boldor in MLS does not take place as the Romanian would have wished. Acquired last July 20 through a loan from Bologna FC, Boldor has been expelled after a video viewing in the 50th minute for a foul committed in the place of Schweinsteiger.

Referee Baldomero Toledo has first presented a yellow card to Boldor for a contact in the middle of the field. But while the former German international was rolled in pain on the ground, the video referee assistant Chris Penso suggested to Toledo to see the recovery. After a short verification, Toledo is headed to Boldor and he was presented with a red card.

The times have shown that Boldor had moved Schweinsteiger to the right tibia with his studs.

“I just review the sequence, and say that it was directly a red card… I’m not sure, was told by the head coach of the Impact Mauro Biello. If you’re not certain, the decision on the field must remain. This is not because it is Schweinsteiger that you give a red card. In the end, it has changed the game. “

“I’m sad because we lost the game, because I have placed the team in a difficult situation, said Boldor. I never received a red card in my entire career, this is the first time. I am angry because it was a good game until then. (The referee) has destroyed a beautiful game at home. “

Schweinsteiger had been quiet until then, as in the victory of 3-0 to the Impact face of the Fire on August 16. He finally threw a cold shower on the 19 619 spectators at Saputo Stadium in the 59th minute, and the Fire (13-9-5) put an end to a series of four setbacks.

On the only goal of the game, the former star of Bayern Munich has been left out in the surface from the Impact and she easily deflected a centre from Matt Polster in the objective.

The midfielder of the Impact Ignacio Piatti got the two best opportunities to create gender equality through the following. – Hit his cross reached the post to the right of goalkeeper Matt Lampson in the 80th minute. Then, he forced Lampson was successful with a key stop in the last action of the meeting.

“With 11 against 11, we were controlling the game, has sustained Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush. Even at 10 against 11, we got opportunities.

“We had suspected that they would have a defensive block lower [as during the match on 16 August], and I think we coped well in spite of it. […] We were prepared for that, but we hadn’t prepared to not have the chance to play. If they can make mistakes against, “Nacho” [Piatti] and our players and that we don’t get the same respect that is granted to players like Sebastian Giovinco, or Schweinsteiger, what can we do ? “

The Impact (10-10-6) cashed a second straight defeat after a series of four victories.

The Blue-white-black remains stuck just under the red line at the seventh place in the eastern conference, with as many points as the Atlanta United (10-8-6). The United still has two games in hand and a better ratio of goals.

Montreal has seen a sequence of 22 games (in all competitions) with at least a goal at home come to an end. Piatti has also seen a series of five games with at least one goal to be dampened.

The match of Saturday was not from that the beginnings of Boldor. Midfielder Andrés Romero was a first start since October 10, 2015, when it had suffered a significant injury to his knee. He had made three trips as a reservist in the MLS up here in 2017.

Ballou Tabla was also back in the game for the Impact. After a two-day strike, and have treated an injury to a leg and an infection in the throat, Ballou played his first minutes since July 29, taking over from Romero in the 66th minute. Hernan Bernardello has also played his first minutes since the 29th of July, in succession to Marco Donadel in the 77th minute.

The Impact concluded its sequence of four home games with a record of 2-2-0. He will be back in action next Saturday, when he will visit at the Revolution in New-England.
