Reminder of strings to dance sold at Dollarama

OTTAWA| strings dancing sold at Dollarama are the subject of a major recall by Health Canada.
The affected products have been sold in packages of two, have handles of plastic and were available in two color combinations : blue and purple as well as pink and yellow. Their packaging is identified by the product number “14-3036420” inscribed in the upper right corner.
“Jumping rope could contain concentrations of the phthalate in excess of the allowable limit, wrote Health Canada in its press release. According to studies, some phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive abnormalities and developmental problems in young children if they suck or chew for prolonged periods of products in soft vinyl containing phthalates.”
Some 124 890 copies of this toy manufactured in China, were sold across the country between march 2014 and June 29, 2017.
As of the date of 12 July, no incident or injury associated with the use of these skipping ropes had been reported to Dollarama.
Health Canada orders any person who has purchased this product remove it immediately from the reach of children by throwing it in the trash.
Consumers can also get a refund by returning the product to the store, even if they have not retained their invoice.
