MONTREAL – there are not in Montreal, where the coyotes are more and more present in the residential areas. A community in the north-west in Calgary, Alberta, is also concerned about the proximity that she needs to share with the animal.
In the neighbourhood of Edgemont, the presence of more common coyotes, elicits strong reactions. Fearing attacks, several residents asked the municipal authorities to react, reported Saturday CTV News.
“They have no fear at all of humans or cars, told the English-language network Maureen Morrison, a mother of four children living in the neighborhood. My neighbor pelletait its entry last week after the snow fell. A coyote came in and stood there looking at it.”
The woman said that coyotes are installed under the balcony of a neighbor.
Other residents in the area have the same overview of the coyotes mate at the side of their house.
“We work with companies from animal control that might help us, hopefully, to encourage these animals to move,” said CTV News Chris Manderson, head of the urban conservation in Calgary Parks.
Mr. Manderson is convinced that the animals will be relocated before they do not recur. “When the kids are born and grow, we see more of territorial behaviour and defence of the parents (coyotes). It is at this point that the problems begin.”
The City of Calgary has not ruled out killing the beasts.
In the past few weeks, other incidents involving coyotes have been reported in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Cape Breton, and in the suburbs of Toronto in particular.
