Road assessment positive for Labour day

    The summer ended on a good note, on the roads of Quebec so that no motorist seems to have lost their lives in the car during the weekend of Labor day.

    While the Sûreté du Québec must publish an official report of accidents occurring on its territory later this week, a first compilation done by the QMI Agency shows that no deaths occurred on the roads of Quebec since Friday.

    Last year, two people had died in accidents during the week-end marking the end of the summer holiday for many Quebec.

    Different collisions have resulted in serious injuries to motorists during the past few days. In particular, a motorcyclist was injured when he rammed into a car that was leaving a driveway in Stoneham-et-Tewkesburry, Saturday. A sexagenarian has also suffered serious injuries during a frontal collision to Gaspé, on Sunday evening, while a second motorist escaped with minor injuries.

    Labor day marks the end of the period the deadliest on the roads of Quebec. According to CAA-Quebec, about a hundred people die on the roads of the province between the Saint-Jean-Baptiste, and on the 1st Monday of September, which represents one-quarter of annual deaths.
