The research undertaken by the Sûreté du Québec Saturday to find two snowmobilers reported missing in the vicinity of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, in Montérégie, were unsuccessful.
The vehicle on which were the two men has been found in the water in the afternoon by divers of the SQ in the area of Hungry Bay, about 300 metres from shore. Hungry Bay is located at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence river and the Beauharnois canal.
The snowmobile and the banks have also been inspected by the Sûreté du Québec.
Saturday, after the sunset, Alexander, Clermont, and Pierre-Alexandre Patenaude, two friends, aged 29 and 30 years old, had not been found.
According to the SQ, to the fact that there is no ice cover at the place where the snowmobile has been located suggests that the two men may have been swept away by the current. According to the department of media relations of the SQ, “the investigation continues, but at least for new developments, it is little likely that the searches will resume Sunday”.
According to TVA News has learned, the two men were last seen on the night of Thursday to Friday. They would have stopped at resto-bar La Villa, in the municipality of Sainte-Barbe, near, before leaving at about 1: 30 in the morning.
Their disappearance was reported Friday to 15 h by their relatives, who remained without news.
Friends have also been entrusted to TVA News that the two men lived in the area and know the area. They would also regularly their snowmobile.
