Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone 7: They are the only one in the world
In the smartphone planet, they are only two. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 completely crushed the competition. The geek chronicle of meltyStyle will explain!
The news of the smartphone planet has been largely occupied by the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 this week. This is one of the highlights of the year, and the situation is expected to recur in the fall, for the announcement of the iPhone 8, which is a huge challenge for Apple . No other mobile is today capable of attracting as much attention as the two South Korean and American flagships. Both smartphones grab everything on the market. Leaders of innovation, the two high-end phones are the only ones in their areas to experience commercial success. It leaves no room for other actors. Who will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7? In 2017, the list of contenders is weak.
There is a not-so-distant time when the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 would have competed. HTC, Sony and even LG were able to release high-end smartphones able to compete with the two giants. Not all of them were commercially successful, but they had the merit of innovating and capturing the attention of the technological press. The same observation is difficult to make today. Fingerprint scanners, curved screens, 64-bit processors, voice aids or powerful cameras … All these innovations have been presented by the two heavyweights of the market. The competition preferred to focus on the middle and the entry level. On the high end, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7, sold less than 650 € , are alone in the world … and for a long time.
New competition has emerged in recent years: those of Chinese manufacturers. Huawei / Honor, Xiaomi or Meizu have made the specialty to release powerful and high-quality smartphones at prices well below those of Apple and Samsung. In China, it dominates the majority of the market . In the West, few journalists compare them directly to a Samsung Galaxy S8 or iPhone 7. These are nevertheless the only smartphones able to compete with these. The classic actors who have tried have always broken their teeth. The LG G6, the Google Pixel or the Sony Xperia XZ Premium have not yet managed to pack the crowds. What do you think ?
